MVCC July 28th 2011

July 28, 2011

Greetings on this great day of the Lord.  Wow what a roller coaster of a week thus far.  Ok before we get on that, last weekend we had our first (to be annual) Golf scramble.  What a great time for all who attended or just watched.  We had 7 four person teams all competing for the coveted bragging rights.  Well 2 teams tied for the first prize so the official golf committee decided to break the tie.  What they did was put in a cup all the hole numbers on a piece of paper and draw a number, then  go to the score card and who ever had the best score on that hole would be the winner.  Well long story short my team came in second.  Norm Wall, Richard Sizemore, Brian Ames and Phil Snow are the grand Champions, Congratulations.   Pastor Joy and I have had an interesting week.  On Monday morning at 1:15 a.m. we were scheduled to pick up the international dancers that were arriving to spend a week in Burley.  I went to pick up our house guests who are from Belgium.  A young spry couple, Hugo 68 and his wife Denise 72.  There English is shallow but boy they are great people.  Tuesday  July 26th was filled with dancing activities practices, gatherings and getting acquainted with our family as well as the rest of the delegation from around the world.  Wednesday morning July 27th started with a bang.  I went to the garage to get something around 7:00 a.m. and noticed that Joys Black Acura automobile was missing.  I thought someone was pulling a prank on us.  I didn’t panic until I realized it was no prank or car had been stolen.  We called the sheriff’s department and they said we would have to come in to the police station to fill out a stolen car report.  We did this around 9:00 a.m.  How awful it feels to be violated in such a way.  The vehicle was in the garage, keys in the car but on the center console.  We can note confirm or deny the garage door was open or closed, but still to have the audacity to break in our garage and remove the vehicle.  The police filing the report  said  there was small to no hope of recovering the automobile.  I called the insurance company who was ready to spring into action as needed.  We were already planning for the worst of not finding the car.  I had a new car picked out for Pastor Joy and was ready to move n if necessary.  We both felt like it was an attack of intimidation by the enemy and remained strong in the faith.  To have a car stolen in Burley Idaho who would of thought.  I had made a flier that I had passed onto a few businesses, posted the same flier on face book and let as many people know as possible.  Well after Lunch I went back to the office to find a police officer waiting for me.  What would I hear? Wrecked, burned, stripped, trashed.  The officer said we found your vehicle no apparent damage just 3 miles from your house. The vehicle was locked so we had to get the spare keys and go get the vehicle.  They were correct, no damage at all.  Wow.  The officer who told me they had found the vehicle said, “God is with you Pastor”.  Amen..  We have Joy’s vehicle back.  We never did find the set of Keys that were taken with the Vehicle but we did look.   Chris and Rodney Stenzel took their metal detectors to the site of the vehicle recovery and looked but no find… Too much drama….Thursday was a great day for Nancy Gerrard however as she is officially retired from Cassia Memorial Hospital after 29 years of service.  Nancy will be greatly missed in the hospital but will be a great blessing to Mountain View Christian Center where she reports for duty on Monday August 1st.  Also on Thursday July 28th Sylvia Hendricks is another Year Older.  Happy Birthday Pastor Sylvia….One other special day for our Pastoral Staff is Pastor Steve and Crystal Lubinski our children’s pastors Anniversary is Friday July 29th.  Be sure to bless these servants with a gift, a card, or blessing.  One other Thursday event, Jay Rice our Royal Ranger Commander took a delegation of Boys to the Annul Royal Ranger Camp out  at Stanley Lake near Stanley Idaho.  What a great opportunity to spend 3 days  in the wilderness where the day time temperatures reach 60 and night time is 30  Ya hoo…..
Some really cool stuff is happening this Next week.  Vacation Bible School Starts Monday Morning August 1st at 9:00 a.m.-12:00 going all week until August 5th.  The Theme is “Panda Mania” be sure to sign your kids up or if you can help see Pastor Steve or Crystal.   We still need more donations for this ministry so if you missed the opportunity this last weekend, please help our budget is $1500.00 and we have raised about half… HELP!!!!!!! The mid week service August 3rd will be taught by Richard Tundag.  Come and support Richard.

MVCC Email Blast 7/21/2011

Greetings on this July 21, 2011.  With summer in full swing, camping, fishing, vacations, Bar B-q and gatherings it is an awesome opportunity to get better acquainted with friends, family and New Friends.  A couple of weeks ago we handed out pies to everyone who attended the first and second service.  I trust you have had a great time of fellowship around the Pies.  Hey send me some reports.  Rockofidaho@msn.com   I would love to hear what’s up..
Several cool things this week here at MVCC.  We are going to do a pictorial church Directory.  We have had several attempts of doing one internally.  Each of these attempts has failed.  So we have Olan Mills coming in September on several occasions to take photos.  Watch for details coming soon.  It is going to be a huge help for all of us.  I hear all the time, do you know????  Well what do they look like?… We will soon have the answers to these questions.  We started a new face book for the church.    MVCCburley id.  If you are a social butterfly or not join up.  It is another way to stay connected with, what’s happening.  This Sunday I will be preaching the book of 1 Corinthians, the apostle Paul was writing to this young church who was allowing sexual impurity, division, misuse for spiritual gifts, and baptism for the dead and more.  We will preach through this book bringing clarity to each issue.  Please pray for me in preparation for this word, I want to speak with the passion, anointing and clarity of the Lord.   I mentioned in our last email blast we will be taking a special offering for the Vacation Bible School.  We have a budget of $1500.  For the event.  Thank you for helping make the VBS program a success.
After church there is a group of golfers and non golfers who will head to the Burley Golf Course for our First MVCC Golf Tournament.  I have attached the Roster, team placement and rules to this email.   After the event all are invited to attend the awards ceremony at the club house.  We will be having a pot luck picnic as well. Hey I thought I would let know what’s happening with the Food Pantry and food program as well as a few need.  Chris Bean who runs the pantry gave me a list of items they could use, so here it is… Toilet Paper, Tooth paste, tooth brushes, deodorant, razors, bar soap, laundry detergent, dish soap, shampoo, and shave cream.  If you could help out either by bringing the items to the church or if you would like to donate toward the items, you can do that from our web site using pay pal or give in the offering, please make it clear where the funds are designated for. A Huge thank you..
We are awaiting news of Salmon to give away like last year.  It could be any moment we will have an, “All hands on Deck” call.  Don’t be surprised when the call comes.   Our Coat drive is in full swing, we have several hundred coats of all sizes shapes and styles.  Ramie Stenzel is the contact for this ministry; please give her a hand….
We have a few prayer requests:   There was a bad accident Wednesday evening that claimed the life of a young lady.  This young lady was Yoli Chesley’s niece.  The deceased had a 2 year old son in the vehicle who survived (Jeremiah) who is in ICU in Boise.  Please pray for this young man and the family..
Lucille Brown one of our Sr. Saints needs a miracle as she is battling with Sinus Infection.
If you know of jobs that we can advertise through our weekly communication let us know we would love to help.
I hope to see you this weekend and don’t forget to invite a friend to Church.
We Love and appreciate you all…

MVCC 7/14/2011

Greetings on this Weekly blast.   What a great day in the Lord.  As we recap the week it has been a awesome week.  It started off Sunday as I preached on the Book of Acts.  If were not able to attend please check out the web site for the audio and video message.  I am very passionate about the book of acts and the filling or baptism in the Holy Spirit.  Not being raised in the church I had no preconceived ideas about the gift of the Holy Spirit or the filling thereof.  So as a new believer I just read the word of God and believed it.  Hum sounds like that is what we are suppose to do anyway.  I am so grateful each week as I preach the word people are getting saved and seeking the fullness of the Spirit of God in their Lives.  Wow I am sure preachy....Some cool stuff is happening at MVCC.  We have recently started a new committee as an extension of the official board.  The committee is a finance committee.  My thought and theory is we must be accountable and responsible for the funds provided to the church.  We do have a treasure, office manager and board to oversee the finances, however I wanted an independent set of eyes from the church to overview and make recommendations to the church.  We currently have 3 on the committee, our treasure Darrin Preece and two ladies, Jo Ann Van Parys  and Nancy Gerrard.  We have and are establishing new finance  policies that deal with fund accountability,  fund raising, department budgets, staff compensations, reimbursements and a host of other items dealing with finance.  It  is working well thus far but I know it is a work in progress. As we continue working through these I will keep you informed.  Talking about funding a request came in from our MVCC Kids Department for funds to facilitate the 2011 Vacation Bible School.  It has been years since the church has had a VBS so start up costs are great.  The department was able to borrow a lot of decorations from a neighboring church who did the same program but there is still a need that we as a  church body will help.  With that said on July 24th in both Sunday a.m. services we will take a special offering for Vacation bible school which the event  will be the first full week in August.  Something pretty cool happened.  We had a laptop donated to the church for the exclusive  use of job applications and resume building.  It is up and going, so pass the word that it can be checked out and used in the coffee shop to apply for a job.  We have put blocks on  the  computer system so it is and will stay family safe.
I just heard that the shipment of milk that Mountain view christian center put together has arrived in Joplin Missouri.  I dont have pictures but if I ever do receive any I will pass them on to you all.  Way cool.  The outreach ministry of MVCC is not only National but world wide as well as we support 9 missionaries on a monthly basis.  I want to do more. Each month on the second Sunday we honor our missionaries with a special offering.  Our plan is to have a missions convention this fall to highlight all our missions groups.  Speaking of missions we have officially kicked off our Coat Drive for the year.  Last year we gave away 1200+- coats to the community.  We want up our game and do more.  We have recruited a person will real passion for the task of heading up the drive.  Ramie Stenzel has graciously accepted this task.  She will need help so if you are interested let her know.  To give her a head start we was contacted by the Christmas Council who ask if we was going to do a coat drive, we said yes the next thing we knew we had 3-400 coats delivered to us. God is so great.  A couple other cool things.  You can now make donations to MVCC,  Pay you tithes, & offerings from our Web site mountainviewchristiancenter.info through Pay Pal. Give it a try...
Our Celebrate Recovery group continues to rock the house with some cool stuff.  This last weekend as we celebrated a time of communion at the conclusion of our church service the leadership of C/R served the communion elements.  John Gerrard the director and leader of C/R wanted to do something fun for the ministry 3rd birthday.  Thanks Guys... It was awesome.  The C/R ministry just began a new series of step leadership studies.  If you interested in joining see John.    A couple of other items of interest.  This Saturday July 16th a group of men and ladies are going to Richfield, Id to work on the Richfield Community Church.
