MVCC August 25th Blog

Greetings on this  Summer day of August 24, 2011,

I Thought I would get a jump on the weekly blast.  What a great week.  As many of you know Mountain View Christian Center Hosted the Sr. Adult Camp meeting for Southern Idaho Senior Adults.  The meetings started Sunday evening and were over Tuesday evening.  It was an awesome time of singing hymns and old chorus’ with the saints.  It was awesome as many from around the State were here.  As I looked over the audience the other evening I was amazed at how many people was there that Pastor Joy and I have had the privilege of knowing.  Each one having an impact on our lives as young Christians and young ministers.  It was the first time MVCC had hosted such an event and huge thank you to the staff and volunteers for making this a memorable event.   This event came on the heels of our Cassia County Fair week food booth, which was another huge success.  Thank you to everyone who cooked cleaned, served, smiled and participated with this fund raising event.  Each department of the church will benefit financially from this event.
We have some really cool news; Mountain View Christian Center is pursuing Northwest University in Seattle Washington and their Extension program under the Direction of John Wilke here in Southern Idaho as an extension site to further our College education.  Through the College we will be able to offer an Associate Degree in Christian Leadership and a Bachelors Degree in Ministry Leadership.  If you would like to be involved in furthering your education please pick up a packet at the information center.  This is an amazing opportunity.
We continue to work hard on ways to impact our community with the mission statement of the church, “Love God, Serve People”.  In an effort to fulfill the mandate we covet your prayers.  We are solicited or are soliciting on a regular basis the partnerships of like minded organizations that would help us as we help others fulfill the Great Commission.  We have had conversations with partners who are interested in helping us launch a free medical clinic.  It is a daunting task.  I have enrolled Nancy Gerrard as the point person from MVCC to facilitate these challenges.  Nancy just retired from 29 years working in the corporate Hospital world and is collecting data and other vital information that will assist us in shaping the future with this ministry.  As we have also had conversations with other food sources that will help MVCC fulfill the mission of feeding the hungry.  It is our desire that we have a daily food distribution center that would serve the Mini Cassia Area and beyond.  Currently we are open 2 days a week assisting hundreds of families a month.  The Hunger dilemma in the area is alarming as we know firsthand through the many events we have held.
In an effort to cloth the kids we are in full swing collecting coats to be able to distribute as our next food giveaway this fall.  Currently we have 700 coats well on our way the goal of 2000.  Can you help donate, wash, sort, stack, hang up or call for donations?  Ramie Stenzel the project chairman needs your help.  One other huge prayer point.  As each of these areas I have mentioned come into focus the need for a warehouse becomes a vital part in the mission.  We have placed a letter of intent to purchase the old Qwest building that is next to the church property.  We are in hopes we can purchase this building.  We do have another option available to us,  that is build a facility on the church property.  Just an FYI, the church owns 8 acres in the current location.  We as a leadership team have one mind and purpose as we seek the best for MVCC and our community in fulfilling the mission.  More to come on this issue..
Several prayer points this week:
-Eddie Lopez brother in law Preston Powell Passed away, pray for traveling safety as they travel.
-Pray for the family of Pastor Dave O’Donoghu  Pastor of Peace Fellowship who passed away last Saturday evening.  The funeral is at MVCC Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.

There are several job opportunities available posted at the information center, here are just a few.
--Dot Foods Burley looking to hire
--Parkview retirement center Burley looking to hire cook, receptionist,& activity director.
                --Day Car in Rupert worker.
Our Wednesday evening bible study, kids night is officially kicking off Wednesday August 31st.  We will have one sanctuary class that I will teach for 4 weeks on the WHY’s of church.  Why do we stand while singing? Why do we clap?  Why to we preach like we do?  Speaking in tongues is that in the bible?  You won’t want to miss any of these classes.
We have a great Sunday planned for you on August 28th.  I am preaching the book of Colossians in the New Testament as we endeavor to preach one sermon in every book in the bible.  It is so exciting to see what will happen each week as we preach the word of GOD.
Be sure to invite a friend to church this weekend.

MVCC August 18,2011

Greetings this Thursday afternoon, August 18, 2011.
What a great day to serve the Lord.  Have you ever noticed that life is never boring when  you put God First in your life.  He wants to shower you with blessings all the time.  I can’t help but think how I wouldn’t do anything for my kids.  I want them to be blessed.  How much more the Lord wants to bless us His Kids.  How has the Lord blessed you?  I want to hear about it.  Be sure to email me and let me know.  Speaking of blessings.   Several weeks ago we passed out several hundred pies after each service.  I need feedback.  Have you had anyone over to your home for pie and ice cream?  Go ahead take a minute and let me know as well…Blessings, wow the church got blessed today (Thursday).  We received a call from a Tyson Food truck driver who had 2200 whole frozen chickens they wanted to donate to us.  Well of course we took them.  Now what do we do with them.  Find freezer space to hold them until we do another food giveaway.  So I called my network of friends and they welcomed the pallets of chicken that is stored safely with the 4 pallets of potato products we have.  Thank you Jesus.   Let me back up a week as I let you all know what a huge blessing Mountain View Christian Center is to the Community.  Last Friday August 12th we had a food giveaway. The menu items were Chinook Salmon (fresh),  frozen Mashed Potatoes (Garlic or regular), Potato Wedges, or Tots plus French fries.  It was amazing as we passed  food out to 500+- families.  A huge thank you, to all who volunteered their time and smiles.  All we want to do at MVCC  is, “Love God, Serve People”.   Speaking of Last week, as many of you heard there was a tragic plane crash in Burley that claimed the lives of an entire family.  Pastor Joy and I received a call about 2:30 P.m. Sunday afternoon of the accident and requested that we make our presence known.  We raced to the scene of the accident, knowing there were no survivors; we then went into action to meet with the families.  Our Journey took us to the emergency room where we spent the next several hours holding the hands, praying, crying and consol ling the parents of the deceased.  What a tragedy. We never know when our last breath will be taken this side of heaven.  A good friend of mine who is now in Heaven Himself always ended his sermons with this statement:  “Eternity, Eternity where will you spend Eternity and what are you doing about Jesus?”
On a much lighter note.  Yesterday Wednesday August 17, 2011 we entered a float in the Cassia County Fair.  The float consisted of a Large Low boy flat bed with bales of hay around the parameter, Loaded with Red, White & Blue balloons and streamers with our Worship Band Praising the Lord.  We also had our Kids train leading the charge.  Believe it or not we won second place in our division that come with a $100 check and a ribbon.  It was cool as Pastor Joy and I sat on the Float waving and greeting people watching folks singing the worship songs with  Pastor Dan Hendricks.  We have a great team of musicians, singers and willing vessels that made this all happen.   Speaking of making things happen, Ramie Stenzel who is the chairman of our Coat drive committee just told me  this last Sunday  she has over 700 coats, cleaned and ready for distribution as well as a place to store them all.  Our Goal is 2000 coats so she needs help.  If can help sort, clean or gather coats let Ramie know or call the church office and we will get a message to her.
This week being fair week it has been busy, This being our one huge fundraiser for the year always stretches everyone to the MAX… Great Job Team….
You will notice as you step into the church building that we had our carpets cleaned in the foyer and fellowship hall this week as well.  A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO….. “On the Spot cleaning and restoration” for doing a great job.  Thanks Darrin and Shannon…
I have a great Word ready for you this weekend.  I am preaching the Book of Philippians, a book of how to praise the Lord even while in pain and suffering.  Come and experience the Joy of the Lord this weekend at either the 9:00 or the 11:00 service.
Starting Sunday evening we are honored to host the Sr. Adult (prime Timers) Annual Convention /Camp Meeting for Southern Idaho. You will start seeing RV’s pulling up on Saturday as they want to get the best Parking Spot. It will be a fun time of fellowship, and preaching the Word.  Pastor Roy Brewer will be the guest speaker as each of the meetings.  Sunday at 6:00 p.m., Monday-Tuesday at 10:00 am and  7:00 p.m.
This Sunday you will be given an opportunity to hear of a need that has arisen in the body.  A dedicated MVCC family needs to send their teen to a Teen Challenge center in Reno Nevada.  The family is looking for scholarships to offset the $840.00 per month deficit.  If you have a heart for Teen Challenge and know of the benefits  of this ministry please see the church office of this wonderful opportunity,  You can sponsor a day, week or month…  Please help..
Ok, I am done for this week.  Be sure to invite  someone to church this week, remember it may be the best sermon I have ever preached…. Philippians… YA HOOOOOOO..

Mountain View Christian Center August 11, 2011

August 11, 2011
Good afternoon on this Great Day of our Lord.  Ok it is official we have Fish.  We are planning for another fun faith filled event of giving to our Community.  “Love God, Serve People” is what Mountain View Christian Center is all about, so this is your “All Hands on Deck” call.  We will start setting up at 4:00 p.m. Friday and will attempt to start passing out the fish and other product at 5:00 p.m.  Come help and get involved.  We have a plethora of Potato products as well as the Salmon (Chinook).  Please pray that we receive more fish than we were told, as well pray that we touch and reach the community with the Life giving Savior.  Each time we do these outreaches my heart is expanded and challenged of the immense need that is in our community.  Please pass the word to your friends and co-workers of this event to either partake or come and help.  We will have hamburgers and hotdogs for donation available for this event.
As you will remember we had Vacation Bible School last week, the boys and girls had a great time with the theme “Panda Mania”.  I believe the greater lesson learned was the mission of the Church, “Love God, Serve People”.  They had a competition of who could bring the most canned food items.  Well the girls won, but in reality all did.  A total of 1300 cans and items was collected for the food pantry.  Now the heat is on.  The children’s church staff and the food ministry staff have placed a challenge to the congregation to beat them.  So for the next few weeks we are having a food drive to help. Please bring a canned food item or a case or two of food items.   The day to day need is enormous in our area.  According to Chris Bean our director the church as already served more food to the community through our food pantry than all of last month.  We do have gracious donors but we need your help.  Thanks…
Just an Fyi’s,   Where we giving fish away to the community on Friday which is the normal night that Celebrate Recovery meets, the group will join in with the community service meeting.
The Ladies break away has been postponed this year.  It was scheduled for the August 26-28th.  Instead they are planning to have an all Ladies day on the River August 27th.  Please log on to the web site Mountainviewchristiancenter.info for details.
Hey I am so excited about this Sunday.  I am almost positive that this will be the best sermon I have ever preached.  It is on the book of Ephesians.  It deals with Marriage, Family, Kids, Church structure and order.  It will be a great word.  You will not want to miss it…. Have you missed any of the messages due to summer vacation?  Log on to the Website or order you DVD of the service from the information center.  Also please pass the word about our live stream.  We broadcast our 11:00p.m. Service Live TV via the web.  It is a blast.   A really cool thing is the ability to pay your tithes and offerings through the web site.  People are using this feature to make sure that the House of the Lord is taken care of.  I am so grateful for the faithfulness of you Gods People.  I continually hear the praise reports as people honor the Lord with the first fruits of their labors (tithe) How God had honors His Word, pouring out blessings that cannot be contained.  Ya hoo, Go God..
If you want to be included in the Church Pictorial Directory you need to sign up this weekend.  It takes 3 minutes, so I’m told.  Come on we want to know who you are!!!!  YES YOU…….Ok I’m done for this week.

Don’t forget to invite a friend to church this weekend……

August 4th Blast

August 4, 2011
Greetings on this Great day of the Lord.  Wow We just flew in from Seattle Washington where we have invested a week in spiritual boot camp.  We attended a team conference hosted by Champion Center in Tacoma, WA.   We left after church last Sunday to drive to Boise to catch a flight that evening.  We arrived in Seattle at 8:30 p.m. as our flight was delayed.  Yahoo, what a way to start off the trip.  We were to stay with a good friend and former Real Estate Client who lives in Graham, WA for the week.  Upon arrival we called him for directions and he guided us in to his place, well ok I got lost once maybe twice.  We arrived at our home away for home at 10:00 PST.  It was a long day.  Our conference started Monday evening so we had a time to see our friends business,  He makes plane and space craft parts.  It was cool holding a part knowing that it would be flying around the world or be going into outer space.  Terry our friend an host  is a Great Brother in the Lord attending the same church for 35 years.  He had just purchased a new horse to add to his 2 others so we were treated to country living in the City.  The conference had top national voices in the spirit filled Christian world.  Jensen Franklin, Darleen Zschech,  Terry Christ, Kevin Gerald and other great men of God.  We were challenged, stretched, filled up, exhorted, encouraged, motivated and moved as the Holy Spirit energy filled the packed auditorium each day and evening.  It was a great time of celebration as well as the church was celebrating 25 years  of Ministry with Pastor Kevin Gerald and his wife at champion center.  It was awesome to witness what Pastoral longevity does for a church body and city.   The conference ended around Midnight last evening  August 10th and we were up and out the door just after 4:00 a.m. to catch our flight to Boise.  One thing I realized at this large event.  We have a great church body right here in Burley Idaho at MVCC.  We have the potential for greatness beyond what we could ever ask or think.  I needed to see a model that was bigger, more vibrant, had more going on that us and I did.  Not to copy or replicate the bigger model but to expand my vision.  Speaking of vision,  I had a meeting with the director or domestic affairs  for World Vision whose headquarters is in Tacoma, Wa.  So happens  that Terry our friend’s daughter works there.  I told them what we were doing with the food and clothes in our valley and ask them to partner with us.  They said they would be honored to do so.  We are not sure what that looks like but I do know anything World Vision gets involved with is great.  Just a side note I asked them for containers of Medical supplies to supply our Medical Clinic,  I asked them for a container of Shoes for our Kids  in the community, I ask them for... , well I can’t tell you because you might think I am crazy.  Well as I have said in the past I am, Crazy with passion to “Love God, and Serve People”.   One funny note I say a man taking pictures last evening with many of the church members and pastors,  me in my non assuming way approached this gentleman and said,  Excuse me sir but Who are you?  He never did answer me but later found out it was Darrel Strawberry who played for the Mets and the Yankee’s.  I ask him what was he doing with Jesus?   A funny story that I will cherish.  No I didn’t feel like a fool, I just wanted to know so I ask.  My approach to life is not to be intimidated by anyone; we are all just people on a journey.  One other highlight was I was asked to preview a leadership book that is slated to be a #1 Best Seller.  I met the Author who happened to be a friend of Terry(my friend) and he ask us to be critics and preview this book.  I have never done this before but am up for the challenge.  Ok I have been rambling on and on.  Hey some Great Stuff had been going on at MVCC.  This week had been a week filled with fun and excitement as Panda mania and the VBS crew has taken over the building.  A great big shout out to the Children’s staff and volunteers for making it happen.  This weekend I will be preaching on the book of Galatians, I know I will be bringing the heat so you won’t want to miss it. Go ahead and invite a friend to church this week.  Remember 9:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m.  Both services are the same.
Be sure to sign up for your Picture this weekend…..
