MVCC August 18,2011

Greetings this Thursday afternoon, August 18, 2011.
What a great day to serve the Lord.  Have you ever noticed that life is never boring when  you put God First in your life.  He wants to shower you with blessings all the time.  I can’t help but think how I wouldn’t do anything for my kids.  I want them to be blessed.  How much more the Lord wants to bless us His Kids.  How has the Lord blessed you?  I want to hear about it.  Be sure to email me and let me know.  Speaking of blessings.   Several weeks ago we passed out several hundred pies after each service.  I need feedback.  Have you had anyone over to your home for pie and ice cream?  Go ahead take a minute and let me know as well…Blessings, wow the church got blessed today (Thursday).  We received a call from a Tyson Food truck driver who had 2200 whole frozen chickens they wanted to donate to us.  Well of course we took them.  Now what do we do with them.  Find freezer space to hold them until we do another food giveaway.  So I called my network of friends and they welcomed the pallets of chicken that is stored safely with the 4 pallets of potato products we have.  Thank you Jesus.   Let me back up a week as I let you all know what a huge blessing Mountain View Christian Center is to the Community.  Last Friday August 12th we had a food giveaway. The menu items were Chinook Salmon (fresh),  frozen Mashed Potatoes (Garlic or regular), Potato Wedges, or Tots plus French fries.  It was amazing as we passed  food out to 500+- families.  A huge thank you, to all who volunteered their time and smiles.  All we want to do at MVCC  is, “Love God, Serve People”.   Speaking of Last week, as many of you heard there was a tragic plane crash in Burley that claimed the lives of an entire family.  Pastor Joy and I received a call about 2:30 P.m. Sunday afternoon of the accident and requested that we make our presence known.  We raced to the scene of the accident, knowing there were no survivors; we then went into action to meet with the families.  Our Journey took us to the emergency room where we spent the next several hours holding the hands, praying, crying and consol ling the parents of the deceased.  What a tragedy. We never know when our last breath will be taken this side of heaven.  A good friend of mine who is now in Heaven Himself always ended his sermons with this statement:  “Eternity, Eternity where will you spend Eternity and what are you doing about Jesus?”
On a much lighter note.  Yesterday Wednesday August 17, 2011 we entered a float in the Cassia County Fair.  The float consisted of a Large Low boy flat bed with bales of hay around the parameter, Loaded with Red, White & Blue balloons and streamers with our Worship Band Praising the Lord.  We also had our Kids train leading the charge.  Believe it or not we won second place in our division that come with a $100 check and a ribbon.  It was cool as Pastor Joy and I sat on the Float waving and greeting people watching folks singing the worship songs with  Pastor Dan Hendricks.  We have a great team of musicians, singers and willing vessels that made this all happen.   Speaking of making things happen, Ramie Stenzel who is the chairman of our Coat drive committee just told me  this last Sunday  she has over 700 coats, cleaned and ready for distribution as well as a place to store them all.  Our Goal is 2000 coats so she needs help.  If can help sort, clean or gather coats let Ramie know or call the church office and we will get a message to her.
This week being fair week it has been busy, This being our one huge fundraiser for the year always stretches everyone to the MAX… Great Job Team….
You will notice as you step into the church building that we had our carpets cleaned in the foyer and fellowship hall this week as well.  A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO….. “On the Spot cleaning and restoration” for doing a great job.  Thanks Darrin and Shannon…
I have a great Word ready for you this weekend.  I am preaching the Book of Philippians, a book of how to praise the Lord even while in pain and suffering.  Come and experience the Joy of the Lord this weekend at either the 9:00 or the 11:00 service.
Starting Sunday evening we are honored to host the Sr. Adult (prime Timers) Annual Convention /Camp Meeting for Southern Idaho. You will start seeing RV’s pulling up on Saturday as they want to get the best Parking Spot. It will be a fun time of fellowship, and preaching the Word.  Pastor Roy Brewer will be the guest speaker as each of the meetings.  Sunday at 6:00 p.m., Monday-Tuesday at 10:00 am and  7:00 p.m.
This Sunday you will be given an opportunity to hear of a need that has arisen in the body.  A dedicated MVCC family needs to send their teen to a Teen Challenge center in Reno Nevada.  The family is looking for scholarships to offset the $840.00 per month deficit.  If you have a heart for Teen Challenge and know of the benefits  of this ministry please see the church office of this wonderful opportunity,  You can sponsor a day, week or month…  Please help..
Ok, I am done for this week.  Be sure to invite  someone to church this week, remember it may be the best sermon I have ever preached…. Philippians… YA HOOOOOOO..
